Four Former
Mustangs Named to All America Teams
MARTINSVILLE, VA --- The Martinsville Mustangs are proud to announce
that three former Mustangs have been named to the Inaugural Daktronics
NCAA Division II All America Team. Josh Paul, a Mustang during the
2005 & 2006 season was named to the second team, while 2006 Mustangs
Steve Condotta and Justin Mills were named to the third team for their
efforts during the 2007 spring season. Brett Thomas, a member of the
Mustangs in 2005 & 2006 was named to the Division III D3Baseball.com
All America Team as an honorable mention selection.
Paul, a senior at Central Missouri State and native of Aurora,
Colorado led the Mules to the Central Regional Finals with a big year
at the plate. The first baseman hit .363 (77-for-212) with 55 runs, 16
doubles, 5 triples, 18 homeruns, and 67 RBIs. Paul was named the
Central Region Player of the Year as well for his efforts.
Condotta, a senior at Florida Tech and native of Mississauga, Ontario
hit .431 (81-for-188) with a team leading 50 runs, 50 RBI’s, and 42
stolen bases, which ranked 4th in all of Division II Baseball.
Condotta also had 11 doubles and four homeruns for the Panthers in
2007. The shortstop was an All Star for the Mustangs in 2006 and was
ranked in the Top 10 Prospects List for the Coastal Plain League for
the 2006 season.
Mills, a senior at Georgia College & State and native of Ivey, GA was
the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year to go along with his All
America honors. The outfielder hit .319 (74-for-232) with 85 runs
scored, 17 doubles, six triples, six homeruns, 49 RBI’s, 57 walks, and
38 stolen bases for the Bobcats in 2007. His 85 runs scored was the
most in all of Division II Baseball.
Thomas, a senior at Ferrum College and native of Danville, VA a
honorable mention All American was also the USA South Conference
Player of the Year for a memorable season for the Panthers, who
advance all the way to the South Region Finals. Thomas hit .387
(72-for-186) with 51 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples, 15
homeruns, 65 RBI’s, and 27 Stolen Bases.
The Martinsville Mustangs are a member of the Coastal Plain League,
the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. 2007 will mark
the league’s 11th Season, the Coastal Plain League is the largest
summer league in the country, featuring 15 teams playing in North
Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The CPL is certified by Major
League Baseball and gives college players the chance to refine their
skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host
families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive
