Jim Taipalus
General Manager

Jim Taipalus enters his third season as General Manager with the Martinsville Mustangs. He previously worked for the Yuma Scorpions; a professional independent minor league team in the Golden Baseball League. His duties consisted of Sales & Marketing, Business & Baseball Operations, and Accounting. His focus is to expand the regional awareness of the Martinsville Mustangs and to create a fun, affordable, entertainment venue for families. Jim has been focusing his time in the off season on creating more revenue through ticket sales, sponsorships, and fundraising. He also has been working with local youth baseball teams to help improve the baseball talent around Martinsville.

Matt Duffy
Head Coach

Matt joins the Mustangs for his second season as head coach. He played two seasons with the Martinsville Mustangs in the summer of '07 and '08. Duffy attended Emory and Henry College and was named All-ODAC as a freshman. After his sophomore year he transferred to UVA-Wise and hit.398 with 59 RBIs and led the team to a NAIA regional berth. Duffy later became an assistant coach for two seasons at UVA-Wise. Prior to college, Matt was a student athlete at Magna Vista High School near Martinsville, where he made first team all-state catcher and was a second team all-state selection in football.

Matt graduated from the University of Virginia's College at Wise (UVA-Wise) with a B.S. in Physical Education with a Concentration in Sports Management in May 2010.

Marty the Mustang
Director of Games and Gallops

Marty is going into his 8th season with the Mustangs. Prior to working with the team he was a wild mustang roaming free. He was the fastest mustang on the east side of the Mississippi, but don't think this job has softened him up any. Marty challenges anyone who thinks they are faster than him to a race around the bases.
