The Mustangs are a member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its twelfth season, the Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. For more information on the Coastal Plain League, please visit the league website at www.coastalplain.com.

Scott Diamond named Myrtle Beach Pitcher of the Year

Two year Mustang Scott Diamond was recently named the Myrtle Beach Pelicans Pitcher of the Year after a very strong start to his professional career. Diamond went 15-3 to lead the Braves organization in wins and posted a 2.89 ERA which was good for fourth in the organization. His 123 strikeouts were also top five in the Atlanta system. Diamond started the season in Rome before being promoted to Myrtle Beach where he went 12-2 in 15 starts in the Carolina League. Diamond was a free agent signee of the Braves after completing the 2007 season with the Mustangs.
