Mustangs beat Owls in game one

Martinsville and Forest City met for a doubleheader on Thursday night. Forest City had defeated Martinsville in three straight games before the first game. The Owls magic number to clinch the West was also down to one. The Mustangs got a strong pitching performance from John Weber and some late offense to defeat the Owls 6-4.

Mustangs scratch out 2-1 win

After a loss to High Point-Thomasville in game one on Monday night, the Mustangs got a solid performance from Troy Beckner. The bullpen finished things off and Martinsville held on for another tight 2-1 win.

Josh Vincent made the start in game one and pitched well but the defense faltered behind him. Five errors led to three unearned runs and the HiToms won 3-2.

Martinsville visits Team USA

Martinsville traveled to Cary, N.C. on Saturday afternoon for an exhibition game against Team USA. The Mustangs played a solid game and were able to keep the game tied until late when Team USA scored the winning run in the seventh to win 2-1.

After losing their last two games, the Mustangs continued their road trip as they traveled to High Point-Thomasville. Martinsville took an early lead but the HiToms would rally back to tie the game.
