Barry Powell
Head Coach

Barry Powell returns for his fourth season with the Martinsville Mustangs and his third season as Head Coach. Coach Powell served as the Mustangs pitching coach during the 2007 season and led the team to a 15-12 record and a second place finish in the CPL Western Division in the Second Half of 2008 and a second place finish in the second half of the 2009 season with a 15-13 record.

Coach Powell is a native of Halifax County and a High School teacher in Danville, VA. He has a Bachelors Degree in History from Mary Baldwin College with a minor in Education and an Associates Liberal Arts degree from Patrick Henry Community College. Before coming to Martinsville Barry served as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach for 17 seasons for the South Boston Post 8 American Legion program and also served as an Associate Scout for the Florida Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies for eight seasons.

Dan Powell
Assistant Coach

Dan Powell returns to Martinsville for his third season as Assistant Coach for the Mustangs. Dan, no relation to Head Coach Barry Powell, is a native of Halifax County and played for Lynchburg College where he graduated in May 2003. He currently serves as a Health and Physical Education teacher and Head Coach for the Bluestone Barons in Mecklenburg County, VA and resides with his wife Christine and their two boys, Junior and Caden.
