The Martinsville Mustangs have announced the addition of a talented foursome from Newberry College to the 2019 roster.
Junior infielder Colin Allman, junior catcher Kenny Bergmann, sophomore infielder Dalton Lansdowne and junior righty Tomas Sorcia, Jr. are the newest members of the 2019 Mustangs.
Allman, a Tampa, Florida native, started all 48 games at shortstop in 2018 and led the Wolves in batting average (.391), hits (75), doubles (13), triples, (3), home runs (8), and slugging percentage (.604). To this point in 2019, the junior is hitting .291 and has racked up 24 RBI with three homers in 33 games.
Bergmann, a catcher from Philadelphia, is hitting an impressive .330 in 38 games played in 2019. The junior has totaled 26 RBI, six doubles and a home run.
An All-Defensive Team Second Baseman in the South Atlantic Conference in 2018, Lansdowne is currently hitting a toasty .335 and is second on the team in RBI with 35. The sophomore out of Lexington, South Carolina, is also 18-for-22 in the stolen base category.
Right-hander Sorcia Jr. has made 13 appearances and 11 starts in 2019 and is a perfect 7-0. In 62.2 innings pitched, the righty from Saluda, South Carolina, has struck out 52 hitters.
Newberry finished with a 21-3 mark in league play this season and has already clinched the school's first-ever South Atlantic Conference regular season title. The Wolves 38 wins so far in 2019 is tied for the most wins in any NCAA division. Next up, the team will compete in the SAC Championship all weekend in Kodak, Tennessee.
