Three Homers Not Enough In Mustangs 7-3 Loss To HiToms

Three Homers Not Enough In Mustangs 7-3 Loss To HiToms

Home runs from Greg Lowe (Davidson), Josh Falk (South Dakota St), and Bobby Morgensen (FAU) couldn't put the Martinsville Mustangs into the win column in a 7-3 loss to the High-Point Thomasville HiToms on Wednesday night at Finch Field.

The HiToms (4-2) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead off Mustangs starter Caleb Goedeken (Doane) in the first inning. The righty went just three innings, allowing six hits and six runs in his second start of the summer.

Matt Tuggle (Averett) entered in relief for the Mustangs in the fourth, throwing three innings of one-hit ball and striking out three in his third appearance of the season.

Shortstop Jake Lorenzini (Wayne State) had a two-hit night, and centerfielder Daniel Vitello (Mars Hills) also tallied a single.

The Mustangs (1-5) will look to snap their three-game losing streak on Thursday night when they travel to face the Peninsula Pilots for the second time this week. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
