Powered by a complete game, three-hit shutout from starter Addison Domingo (Point Park), the Martinsville Mustangs downed the Asheboro Copperheads 6-0 at McCrary Park on Saturday night.
The Mustangs (7-10, 18-24) opened the scoring on a Cross Factor (Oklahoma St) sac-fly in the fourth, before adding two more in the fifth on a Daniel Vitello (Mars Hill) RBI single and a Josh Falk (South Dakota St) bases loaded walk to make it 3-0.
Domingo, making his sixth start of the season, retired 18 straight hitters entering the seventh inning. The righty allowed just three hits and struck out eight in becoming the first Mustangs starter to throw a complete game this summer.
Leading 3-0, left fielder Bobby Morgensen (Florida Atlantic) opened the sixth inning with a solo homer over the wall in left to make it a four run advantage for the Mustangs. It was the outfielders third home run of the season.
Martinsville will have two days off before returning to action on Tuesday night against High-Point Thomasville at Hooker Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
