Domingo Dominates, Bats Come Alive In Mustangs 13-3 Win Over Tobs

Fueled by another gem from starter Addison Domingo (Point Park) and a 14-hit performance at the plate, the Martinsville Mustangs powered their way past the Wilson Tobs 13-3 Saturday night at Hooker Field.

Domingo, the Coastal Plain League leader in ERA, worked into the ninth inning for a second straight start. The righty allowed just three runs, one earned, on six hits and struck out 10 in eight innings to improve to 4-1.

The Mustangs (10-11, 21-25) busted the game open early, scoring seven times in the bottom of the first. Richard Ortiz (Grambling St) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force home the first run, while Daniel Vitello (Mars Hill) tripled home two more runs to make it 7-0 as the Mustangs batted around.

Leading 7-0 in the second, shortstop Joe Boyle (Indiana St) sent a three-run line drive homer to left to make it 10-0. Boyle finished with three RBI, and reached base all five times.

First baseman Kitt Capell (Western Carolina) added a sac-fly in the fourth, Vitello smacked in another on an RBI single in the seventh and Romero Harris (Indiana St) laced an RBI double in eighth to give the Mustangs a late 13-2 lead.

Righty reliever Greg Leban (Austin Peay) entered in the ninth, allowing no hits and striking out two to finish it off.

Martinsville will have Sunday off, before returning to action on Monday night in Forest City. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
