Kicking off a four-game roadtrip and playing in Savannah for the first time since 2017, the Martinsville Mustangs fell 3-2 in a rain-shortened, five inning contest to the Savannah Bananas in front of 4,054 at Grayson Stadium on Tuesday night.
Right-hander Calvin Bush (Concordia TX) made his first start of the summer, allowing just two earned runs on three hits and striking out nine in 3.2 innings of work.
Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, the Mustangs (3-5) loaded the bases with no outs and fought back to tie the game on a Trey Woosley (Frontier CC) bases-loaded walk and a Colin Allman (Newberry) RBI infield single.
The Bananas (7-1) grabbed the lead right back in the home half of the fourth however, scoring the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.
After a scoreless top of the fifth, the game was placed under a weather delay and never resumed.
Martinsville continues the road swing on Wednesday night at Macon. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. Listen to the game on the Mustangs Baseball Network here.
