Elliott Dazzles As Mustangs Fall To Pilots 7-2

JUNE 22 - Despite a 12-strikeout performance from right-hander Austin Elliott (North Carolina), the Martinsville Mustangs fell 7-2 to the Peninsula Pilots on Saturday night at War Memorial Stadium.

Elliott, making his fourth start of the summer, allowed only three hits, one earned run and struck out a season-high 12 in 6.2 innings of work.

After an RBI double by catcher Josh Killeen (Wichita State) gave the Mustangs a 2-0 lead in the fourth, Peninsula scratched across a run in the seventh and exploded for six more in the eighth to pull away and secure a 7-2 victory.

Relievers Bryson Sullivan (Lincoln Memorial) and Ryan Evans (Grambling State) also saw action on the mound for Martinsivlle.
