Palermo Selected To Represent Mustangs On CPL Select Team

The Coastal Plain League announced Monday that right-hander Davis Palermo (North Carolina) will represent the Martinsville Mustangs on the 2019 CPL Select Team that is set to take on the USA Collegiate National Team on Monday, July 1 at 4:00 p.m at the USA Baseball Training Complex in Cary, N.C.

Palermo, a rising sophomore and Chapel Hill native, is enjoying an outstanding summer with the Mustangs in 2019. The righty is 2-1 with a team-low ERA of 1.04 in 17.1 innings pitched.

In his last start on June 19, Palermo threw a complete game (seven innings/doubleheader) shutout, allowing only one hit and striking out nine Forest City Owls.

Palermo didn't see any action for the Tar Heels in 2019, but was ranked the No. 10 right-handed pitcher and No. 25 overall player in the state of North Carolina by Perfect Game in 2018.
