The Coastal Plain League announced Tuesday that rising junior Tyler Riebock (Ouachita Baptist), rising senior Hank Moore (Lincoln Memorial) and rising sophomore Davis Palermo (North Carolina) will represent the Martinsville Mustangs at the 2019 All-Star Showdown in Savannah, GA on July 7-8.
Riebock, who has spent time in the infield and outfield for the Mustangs in 2019, leads the team in home runs with three and sits in a tie for second on the team in batting average at .323. In 20 games, the left-handed hitter has totaled 20 hits, three doubles, 12 RBI, three stolen bases and has scored 17 runs. Riebock is also slugging a team-high .516.
Moore, who is also hitting .323, has seven runs batted in and ten hits, including a double in 13 games this summer. Moore has put together three multi-hit games so far in 2019 and the catcher has thrown out three base runners as well.
Palermo, selected to the CPL Select Team on Monday, is enjoying an outstanding summer with the Mustangs in 2019. The right-hander entered play on Tuesday with a 2-1 record and a team-low ERA of 1.04 in 17.1 innings pitched. On June 19, the Chapel Hill native threw a complete game (seven innings/doubleheader) shutout, allowing only one hit and striking out nine Forest City Owls. Palermo will be a part of the All-Star Semi-Finals Pitchers Arm Pool.
Mustangs fans still have the opportunity to vote in who they think best deserves a spot on the Fan All-Star roster. The roster will consist of one player at each position and three pitchers. Voting ends at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 17. Cast you ballot here.
The 2019 Coastal Plain League All-Star Showdown will be televised nationally to over 30 million households, as well as streamed live on MLB.com and the Coastal Plain League's website.
