Mustangs' Winning Streak Snapped With 12-2 Loss In Forest City

After knocking off the Forest City Owls 7-6 on Monday night, the Martinsville Mustangs fell 12-2 to the Owls on Tuesday night at McNair Field to begin a three-game road trip.

Lefty Gavin Arsenault (Maine-Farmington) made his first start of the summer, allowing four earned runs on six hits and striking out two in three innings of work.

The Owls (1-1, 15-12) scored in every inning but two and built up a 6-0 lead entering the fifth.

In the top of the fifth, the Mustangs (2-1, 12-17) got an RBI single from second baseman Casey Harford (UT-Martin) and Ethan Whitley (UT-Martin) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it a 6-2 game. Harford finished with three hits.

Forest City responded however, scoring six unanswered runs in the final four innings to snap the Mustangs' four-game winning streak.

Right-handers Tomas Sorcia Jr., Brayden Weyer, Evan Dix and Ryan Evans all saw action out of the bullpen for the Mustangs.

Martinsville continues the road swing in Savannah on Wednesday night. First pitch against the Bananas is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Historic Grayson Stadium. Listen on the Mustangs Baseball Network here
