Despite taking a 10-3 lead into the sixth, the Martinsville Mustangs fell 12-10 to the Edenton Steamers on Saturday night at Historic Hicks Field.
The Mustangs (4-6, 14-22) used two home runs from Josh Smith (Georgia State) and another from Tyler Riebock (Ouachita Baptist) to build a seven-run lead in the top of the sixth. Both finished the game with three RBI.
Lefty starter Gavin Arsenault (Maine-Farmington) allowed six runs on eight hits and struck out three in five innings of work.
Edenton exploded for five runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh off relievers Bryson Sullivan (Lincoln Memorial), Brayden Weyer (Colorado School of Mines), and Sam Kaplan (Mars Hill) to seal away the comeback victory.
After an off day Sunday, Martinsville returns home to face the Asheboro Copperheads on Monday night at 7:15 p.m.
