Losing Streak Reaches Six As Mustangs Fall 9-1 In Forest City

The Martinsville Mustangs dropped a sixth straight game 9-1 to the Forest City Owls on Wednesday night at McNair Field.

Righty Brayden Weyer (Colorado School of Mines) made his first start of the summer, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out three in three innings of work.

The Owls (6-6, 20-17) blew the game open early, scoring two times in the first, adding another in the third and exploding for five two-out runs in the fourth to make it 8-0.

In the fifth, shortstop Jack Sigrist (Wichita State) got the Mustangs on the board with a double that allowed Will Schroeder (North Carolina) to score on an Owls error.

Right-handers Charles Hasty (Wayne State College), Sam Kaplan (Mars Hill), Cameron Howell (Mars Hill), Bryson Sullivan (Lincoln Memorial), Davis Mikell (Castleton) and Evan Dix (Queens) all saw action on the mound for the Mustangs.

Martinsville (4-8, 14-24) travels to Wilson on Thursday night for a 7:15 p.m. first pitch against the Tobs at Fleming Stadium. Listen on the Mustangs Baseball Network here
