Mustangs Fall 14-6 In Edenton

The Martinsville Mustangs fell 14-6 to the Edenton Steamers in their final trip of the summer to Historic Hicks Field on Satuday night.

Lefty Gavin Arsenault (Maine-Farmington) allowed four runs on six hits and struck out two in five innings of work.

Trailing 5-1 in the seventh, the Mustangs (5-10, 15-26) got a home run from outfielder Dominic Cox (Rice) to trim the deficit to 5-2. His third homer of the season. 

The Steamers blew the game open with a five-run seventh and a four-run eighth to make it 14-3.

Right-handers Bryson Sullivan (Lincoln Memorial), Sam Kaplan (Mars Hill), Charles Hasty (Wayne State College) and Cameron Howell (Mars Hill) all saw action in relief for the Mustangs. 

After an off day Sunday, Martinsville returns to action on Monday for a Dollar Monday Doubleheader against the Peninsula Pilots at Hooker Field. First pitch in Game 1 is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
